Stretch film – Roll

The use of stretch film rolls in tattooing is a technique commonly known as the “Saran Wrap” or “cling film” method. Tattoo artists use stretch film to cover fresh tattoos as a protective barrier.
After completing a tattoo, the artist cleans the tattooed area and applies a thin layer of ointment or tattoo aftercare product. The stretch film is then carefully wrapped around the tattooed area, creating a protective covering. This serves several purposes:
- Protection from Contaminants: The stretch film provides a barrier against external contaminants such as dirt, dust, and airborne bacteria, reducing the risk of infection.
- Preventing Friction: The film helps minimize friction between the tattooed skin and clothing, preventing irritation and ensuring a more comfortable healing process.
- Securing Ointment: In some cases, the film helps to keep the applied ointment in place, promoting proper hydration of the tattooed skin during the initial stages of healing.
- Reducing Rubbing: It minimizes rubbing against bed sheets or clothing, which can be particularly beneficial during the night when the tattooed person may not be as conscious of their movements.
It’s important to note that while some artists recommend this method, others may advise alternative aftercare procedures. Proper aftercare varies, and individuals should always follow the specific instructions provided by their tattoo artist to ensure optimal healing and the preservation of the tattoo’s quality.
